Stacking the Shelves #40 with Ariella

Hey, guys! This is my first book haul with y'all :) Sorry, but this week's haul is a bit shabby haha.

How to Love - I've already read this and the review is already written as well. It'll go up next Thursday (Oct 3rd). I must say I'm a bit disappointed by this one and my thoughts will be shared next week!

Aquifer - already read this one as well and the review's already up! Go check it out on the blog :)

I got these three books signed at a signing YAY!

Dualed - I've already read it and it was so-so. I have a review up at my personal blog.

Ink - I've already read this as well. It was okay too. I have also already have a review up at my own book blog.

Dark Inside - I've never had the urge to pick this one up but I've seen it around. The author was there for the signing and I thought, "Why not?"

That's all I got this week, y'all. Hope you have a wonderful week and did some great book-hauling!

My name's Ariella and I'm a 14 year old Canadian girl that loves to read. Everything began with a book called the Lightning Thief and from there I was hooked. I enjoy and read all kinds of genres but my favourites are paranormal and mythology. I love reading YA books but I love Middle Grade books as well. I also blog over at Secrets of Lost Words. You can usually find me crawling on twitter so feel free to contact me!

Aquifer by Jonathan Friesen Book Review

Only he can bring what they need to survive...
In 2250, water is scarce, and those who control it control everything. And they’ll do anything to maintain their power – deceiving, dividing families, banning love... even killing those who oppose them.
But above all, they seek to control knowledge and communication – ensuring the truth that will bring their downfall will never be known. But one person verges on discovering it all.
Sixteen-year-old Luca becomes the Deliverer, the only one allowed to contact the people called ‘Water Rats,’ who mine the essential water deep underground and bring it to the ‘Toppers’ who desperately need it above.
But when he meets a Water Rat who captures his heart and leads him to secrets – secrets about a vast conspiracy, and about himself – the net around him tightens. Luca and those around him must uncover and share the truth needed to overthrow tyranny – even as they fight for their lives.

I really love The Selection series by Kiera Cass, and I think they have some of the best covers ever! The model looks different to me than the one on the previous books, but I love all the white and how it looks like she's wearing a wedding dress :)

Waiting on Wednesday: What I Thought Was True by Huntley Fitzpatrick

From the author of My Life Next Door comes a swoony summertime romance full of expectation and regret, humor and hard questions. Gwen Castle's Biggest Mistake Ever, Cassidy Somers, is slumming it as a yard boy on her Nantucket-esque island this summer. He's a rich kid from across the bridge in Stony Bay, and she hails from a family of fishermen and housecleaners who keep the island's summer people happy. Gwen worries a life of cleaning houses will be her fate too, but just when it looks like she'll never escape her past—or the island—Gwen's dad gives her some shocking advice. Sparks fly and secret histories unspool as Gwen spends a gorgeous, restless summer struggling to resolve what she thought was true—about the place she lives, the people she loves, and even herself—with what really is. A magnetic, push-me-pull-me romance with depth, this is for fans of Sarah Dessen, Jenny Han, and Deb Caletti

I should stop picking books that won't be released for awhile because the wait just about kills me! But when I heard this book finally had a cover, I couldn't resist! I adored My Life Next Door and I recommend it to anyone who asks. I don't read contemporary often (or as often as I should) but that book blew me away! It's up there with Anna and the French Kiss. Seriously that good. And then I heard she was writing another book and I just about cried. Thank you Huntley Fitzpatrick for being so awesome.

Unfortunately, this book won't be released until April 15, 2014...that sounds so far away! But I would wait forever for this book!

Oh hello there! My name is Emily, though some of you may know me as the Bookie Monster. As the name would suggest, I devour books like the Cookie Monster devours cookies. In my spare time, I like to bake cookies (and devour those as well) and dream about taking over the world. As if my book obsession wasn't life consuming enough,

I work in the children's room at my local library and I am currently a sophomore in college majoring in English. It's safe to say I'm a bit of a book fanatic. I discreetly shed a few tears on my eleventh birthday when I did not receive my Hogwarts acceptance letter and I waited seven hours outside in the rain just to get a good seat at the Hunger Games midnight premiere. I'm terrified of blood and Disney movies make me cry (in a good way). My passions include hippos, hugs, and Hans Zimmer…and uh,long walks on the beach. I'm just a normal girl w
ith a slightly abnormal and frightfully expensive obsession. Nice to meet you!

Top Ten Tuesday: Best Sequels

There are so many amazing sequels, that it was hard to narrow it down to just ten. My final picks are listed below :)

Unravel Me (Shatter Me, #2)Everbound (Everneath, #2)Of Triton (Of Poseidon, #2)Unbreakable (Unraveling, #2)Cross My Heart and Hope to Spy (Gallagher Girls, #2)Through the Ever Night (Under the Never Sky, #2)Dare You To (Pushing the Limits, #2)Timepiece (Hourglass, #2)The Golden Lily (Bloodlines, #2)Sapphire Blue (The Ruby Red, #2)

Sapphire Blue by Kerstin Gier- This series is one of my favorites and the sequel was even better than the first, with more romance and action.

Unravel Me by Tahereh Mafi- This book was so beautifully written and had some amazing new developments. It's one of my all time favorites.

Everbound by Brodi Ashton- While I enjoyed the first one, Everbound completely blew me away. It surpassed my expectations and I loved how the characters grew.

Of Triton by Anna Banks- This is such a fun series and one that I definitely won't get tired of. The characters, especially Emma, are snarky and especially awesome.

Unbreakable by Elizabeth Norris- This was the sequel that almost didn't happen, lol. Originally, Unraveling was a standalone, but I'm so glad Elizabeth Norris wrote Unbreakable to tie up all the loose ends.

Cross My Heart and Hope To Spy by Ally Carter- The Gallagher Girls series was one of the first YA book series I've ever read and Cross My Heart and Hope to Spy was so much more amazing than the first. My reason why is because a certain character is introduced ;)

Through The Ever Night by Veronica Rossi- I'm not usually a fan of sci-fi, but this series definitely an exception. The world building and plot are fascinating.

Dare You To by Katie McGarry- Pushing The Limits was pretty good, but I liked the characters in Dare You To so much more. The only thing I think might be even better than Dare You To is Isaiah's story ;)

Timepiece by Myra McEntire- I especially like how every book in this series is told in different povs and it's especially cool how it centers around time travel.

The Golden Lily by Richelle Mead-Bloodlines was awesome, but I loved how Adrien and Sydney's friendship grew to be even more in The Golden Lily. The plot definitely picked up speed, too.

What are your favorite sequels?

Stacking The Shelves #39

Hey guys, this is Sara here this week :) I've actually gotten some books this week so it's a bit more exciting!! And by books I don't mean a lot I mean actually non-library books. But...well now that I look at it...it's still pitiful * winces * Well anyway...
I know, it's a weird collage but I like them and it was hard to get everything to squeeze in together :/
Won
Prep School Confidential by Kara Taylor- I won this book from a giveaway (shout out to Emily's Crammed books for being awesome and always a favorite!) and it's signed! Not only had I been interested in this book I now have a signed copy. Let me die now, haha. I'm SO excited to start it, from the cover I think I'm going to love it :)

The Darkest Path by Jeff Hirsch- I won this from Goodreads and although I don't know that much about it I'm looking forward to starting it. I love dystopian!

Library
Naruto vol. 7Masashi Kishimoto- I've already read this volume and I loved it. I love manga when it's a good one :)

By Darkness Hid by Jill Williamson- I love this author but...I haven't exactly read many of her books yet! Just one in fact. I know really bad. So I'm eager to start picking up some more and enjoying her writing :)

So...what did you guys get this week?
Girly For LifeSierra Bennett happens to be a slightly crazy girl. A slightly nerdy girl. A slightly strange girl who likes being that way.  A slightly obsessed girl when it comes to things she loves. A girl who cries when reading books. A girl who desperately wants her own personal library. A girl who is a total bookworm. A girl who would rather read than watch reality tv. A girl who wants to be an author someday. A girl who loves her Savior. And a girl who just loves to read.

Leap of Faith by Jamie Blair Book Review

Leap of Faith
Leah Kurtz has finally found a place to call home, a town where she and baby Addy can live in peace, far from the drug-infested place she grew up. Chris is one of the best parts of her new life, the only person who’s ever made her feel safe. And now that she’s found him, there’s no way she can tell the truth:
Her real name is Faith, not Leah. She’s seventeen, not nineteen. And the baby isn’t hers—Faith kidnapped her.
Faith’s history catches up with her when a cop starts asking questions and Chris’s aunt spots her picture in the newspaper. She knows it’s time to run again, but if Faith leaves, she’ll lose Chris. If Chris is in love with a lie, though, did Faith ever really have him in the first place?

Waiting on Wednesday: Parasite by Mira Grant

A decade in the future, humanity thrives in the absence of sickness and disease.
We owe our good health to a humble parasite - a genetically engineered tapeworm developed by the pioneering SymboGen Corporation. When implanted, the tapeworm protects us from illness, boosts our immune system - even secretes designer drugs. It's been successful beyond the scientists' wildest dreams. Now, years on, almost every human being has a SymboGen tapeworm living within them.
But these parasites are getting restless. They want their own lives...and will do anything to get them.

Parasite just sounds so interesting! I've been told the vocabulary is disgusting too. I've been warned not to google search the vocabularies haha! I'm sure I'll be fine by its goriness but that's just got me pumped up about this book! Is this on your TBR and what are you waiting on this Wednesday? Tell me in the comments :)

Stacking the Shelves (38/Emily Edition Part 2)

Hello everyone! Once again, Emily is back and ashamed of the amount of books she got since the last time she did a Stacking the Shelves post. (Yes I will refer to myself in the third person. Everything gets better when you do so) Let's just keep in mind that there has been about a month between today and the last time I posted....a time period in which a lot of amazing books have been released! I can't help it. What was I supposed to do? Just leave the poor things on the shelf in the store? OH NO! I put them on MY shelf. So there.

Bought:
Crown of Midnight by Sarah J. Maas- I was a little late getting on the Sarah Maas fangirl train, but now that I'm on it...there's no stopping it! I loved the first book and I'm dying to know what's next for our little assassin.

The Bone Season by Samantha Shannon- I'm actually reading this book right now, and while it is complicated and confusing as hell, I'm actually enjoying myself and dare I say I'm impressed? Time will tell!

All Our Yesterdays by Cristin Terrill-I have already read and loved this book. I've read lots of time travel books, but this one is very different and strange and I just adored everything about it. Everybody should read it! RIGHT NOW!!...or when you have a moment.

The Program by Suzanne Young- Another book I've read and loved. This book has such an original, yet creepy plot, it will get you hooked almost immediately. And there is a surprise under the dust jacket! Find this book and take a look!

Spirit and Dust by Rosemary Clement-Moore-I'm a huge fan of hers! She writes good ghost stories, and this one is definitely not an exception.

The Eternity Cure by Julie Kagawa- GAH!!!!! This book will tear you to pieces, put you back together again and then just rip you to shreds again. And there is still not a release date for the third book in the series yet! YOU CAN'T PLAY AROUND WITH MY HEART LIKE THIS JULIE KAGAWA!!

The Bitter Kingdom by Rae Carson- I guess if you guys want to know anything about this book and how I felt about it, you can check out my review here.

Siege and Storm by Leigh Bardugo- I have heard so many fantastic reviews in regards to this book. People rave about how it is even better than the first...which I can't even possibly imagine since the first book was so darn good!

Deception by C.J. Redwine- This was another first book in a series that really impressed me and then made me wait for forever just to know what happens next. And now I finally have the sequel! *Insert squeals of happiness here*

The 100 by Kass Morgan- I'm sure you guys have already heard, but this book is going to be a TV show on the CW. I've seen the trailer, and it looks pretty good, so I'm going to give this book a chance!

Between the Devil and the Deep Blue Sea by April Genevieve Tucholke- That was by far the longest title and author combination I have ever seen. It's like she did that on purpose!

The Chaos of Stars by Kiersten White- Another book by this hilarious author? Yes please! I've heard some iffy reviews on this book, but I still want to give it a try. I have faith in Kiersten White

Antigoddess by Kendare Blake-An awesome, original idea, creepy cover, and mythology of some sort. I'm all ears, man....or eyes? I don't even know.

Fangirl by Rainbow Rowell- I don't know anybody on Goodreads who isn't talking about this book. And the main character sounds like someone I can totally relate to. I had to work really hard not to pick up this book right away.

Scorced by Mari Mancusi- Ever since the conclusion of the Eragon series, I've been looking for another good dragon series, I've been looking for another author to focus on and perfect a story about these magnificent creatures. I haven't heard much about this book yet, but what I have heard has been pretty positive, so I'm hoping for the best!

So that's all for me this week...or month and believe me, it's plenty! Thanks for stopping by!

What did you get this week? I'd love to check out your Stacking The Shelves!

How To Lead a Life of Crime by Kirsten Miller- The storyline didn't interest me very much at first, but I've heard so many amazing things about it from some of my favorite bloggers.

Tiger Lily by Jodi Lynn Anderson- I've wanted to read this for a while and I love the sound of a Peter Pan story.

Princess of The Midnight Ball by Jessica Day George-I've been trying to find this book for what seems like forever, and I was so happy to finally find it in an independent bookstore I visited.

Leap of Faith by Jamie Blair- I've been anticipating this book's release for a while, and it looks like it'll be a quick, short read.

Sweet Legacy by Tera Lynn Childs-I'm planning to read the entire series soon. I've really enjoyed her other books.

Aquifer by Jonathan Friesen- This one looks cool and I've heard pretty good things about it.

Waiting on Wednesday: Rebel Belle by Rachel Hawkins

Rebel Belle
Harper Price, peerless Southern belle, was born ready for a Homecoming tiara. But after a strange run-in at the dance imbues her with incredible abilities, Harper's destiny takes a turn for the seriously weird. She becomes a P
aladin, one of an ancient line of guardians with agility, super strength and lethal fighting instincts.
Just when life can't get any more disastrously crazy, Harper finds out who she's charged to protect: David Stark, school reporter, subject of a mysterious prophecy and possibly Harper's least favorite person. But things get complicated when Harper starts falling for him--and discovers that David's own fate could very well be to destroy Earth.
With snappy banter, cotillion dresses, non-stop action and a touch of magic, this new young adult series from bestseller Rachel Hawkins is going to make y'all beg for more.

This sounds so awesome! Her Hex Hall series was great, so I'm really looking forward to this new one. The premise seems amazing too, especially why David's fate could be "to destroy Earth". What are you waiting on? :)
